Are You Addicted?
Are you addicted?
My reading friends and I have become addicted to ebooks and our ereaders. How did this phenomena occur, you may ask? Simple really. Today’s ereaders and the vendors that supply ebooks make getting our fix fun, easy, and as much of a bonding experience as a trip to the mall. We can pick and choose with an ease unheard of in the shopping world. Sampling and devouring ebooks with relish and delight, frequenting Facebook pages and blogs dedicated to finding the next great book at the best price. Being a bookworm is now in vogue. We have ereaders that rival tablets and we can click “download” or “buy” faster than you can bat an eyelash. Oh, and the accessories! Covers and skins and charms, oh my! What more could a girl want?
Time, that’s what we want! Time to read all these lovely gems securely tucked in their special outfits awaiting that magic touch that opens a new world for us whenever we wish to leave this one for a time. Let there be traffic jams and delays! Pray for more time in the waiting room. Watch as we choose the longest line at the grocery to steal a few more minutes in another world. Kid’s practices fly by with your trusty friend in hand! Waiting eagerly for the moment you two can be alone or getting lost together, suspended in time, in a crowd. Who could blame us? Not anyone who has ever picked up a book and been unable to put it back down. Not anyone who is called to words on a page as if by siren song. No, you would have to love books as much as we do to begin to understand how technology has brought the largest library in the world and put it stylishly, and additively, into the palms of our hands.
Paper books no longer beg me to flip through them, they no longer jump off the shelf at me. They look forlorn as I breeze by. I have something better! I can carry hundreds of books without so much as a break in my stride. No longer do I read one book at a time! I can have several going at once and they are never scattered about the house nor left behind only to be missed too late. All my books, and some for my little junior reader, fit easily into my purse. Top that with several hundred paperbacks or even one hardback book! Can’t be done. There are worse addictions my friends and I say. But none better!

Font size is a tad small, but easily rectified with a quick CNTRL + (Or CNTRL ++)
I have to admit, it is very addictive! I’m starting to have to really think about it before adding free books. I have been kind of adding anything that looks interesting, but I’m cutting down on THAT habit! Like I know I don’t read many romances, so it’s silly to add dozens of them just because they are free.
Anyway, I love, love, LOVE my Sony 950 reader. So elegant and gorgeous and such nice organization for my books. Plus that 7″ screen! I keep all my books on it and carry it everywhere in my purse. So super to be able to whip it out and read in line at the store or elsewhere!
Yep, I’m an addict too! But I’ve always been addicted to reading, so it’s not a surprise that I would like reading “technology”.
I have the same addiction!
This font size is way too small.
My daughter tried to warn me that it was addictive……but did I listen to her? Noooo! Can’t imagine life without NOOK!!
does Cheap e-books have an app to put on a toolbar? Thanks
